Who we are
Golf Games HQ (golfgameshq.com) is a set of free golf games made by Great Creators, based in London, UK. When this policy says "we" or "us", it means Great Creators.
If you have any questions about your data, email greatcreators@icloud.com.
The short version
- You don't need an account to play.
- We only ask for your name if you want it on a leaderboard, and your email only if you sign up for updates.
- We count plays and scores so we can improve the games.
- We use analytics cookies only if you say yes.
- We never sell your information.
What we collect
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| A random player ID stored on your device | So your scores, streaks and daily scorecard work across our games. It isn't linked to your name or email unless you give us those. |
| Your game results: score, time taken, whether you finished | To run the games and leaderboards, and to see which puzzles are too easy or too hard. |
| A leaderboard name (optional) | Shown publicly on that game's leaderboard. Please don't use your full real name if you'd rather not. |
| Your email address (optional) | Only if you sign up, to tell you about new games. You can unsubscribe at any time. |
| Rough location (country) and how you found us, e.g. Instagram or TikTok | To understand where our players come from. We don't collect your precise location. |
| Analytics data: pages visited, device type, browser | Only with your consent, via Google Analytics, to see how the site is used. |
Cookies and storage on your device
Essential: we save small pieces of information in your browser's local storage, such as your player ID, today's scores, your streak and your leaderboard name. The games need these to work, so they don't require consent. You can clear them at any time in your browser settings.
Analytics (optional): Google Analytics sets cookies to measure visits. These only load if you click "Accept" on our cookie banner. You can change your mind at any time using the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of our homepage.
Who we share it with
We use a few trusted services to run the site. They process data on our behalf:
- Netlify: hosts the website
- Supabase: stores leaderboard scores
- Google: Google Sheets stores game results and email sign-ups; Google Analytics measures visits (with consent); Google Fonts provides the fonts
- Mapbox: draws the map in GolfMap
Some of these companies are based outside the UK, mainly in the US. Where that applies, they use the safeguards UK data protection law requires.
We never sell or rent your information to anyone.
Our legal basis
- Running the games and leaderboards: our legitimate interest in providing a free service you've chosen to use.
- Email updates and analytics cookies: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
How long we keep it
We keep game results and leaderboard entries for as long as the game is running. We keep your email until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- tell you what information we hold about you
- correct it
- delete it, including removing your name from a leaderboard
- stop using it for email updates
Just email greatcreators@icloud.com. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
Our games are for a general audience. We don't knowingly collect email addresses from anyone under 13. If you think a child has signed up, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
